Instead of receiving a cryptic error message, users receive a Web page that offers a search box, a "Did You Mean?" listing of similar domain names, and a listing of popular categories related to the search request. Through Thursday, Oct. 2, Site Finder has been used more than 40 million times by Internet users to get where they want to go online. "The service has been well received by millions of Internet users who appreciate getting navigation tools as opposed to the 'dead end' of an error message," added Lewis. VeriSign announced on September 23 that it has established a Technical Review Panel comprised of Internet community leaders to help gather and analyze feedback about Site Finder. That panel will assist VeriSign in the long-term implementation of Site Finder. "The next several weeks will be a test as to whether innovation will occur within the Internet infrastructure. 7-го октября состоится специальное (внеочередное) заседание в ICANN относительно изменения работы резолвинга в .com. Я подумал, что было бы хорошо подать им мнение нашей (.ua) internet-общественности. пожалуйста, присылайте комментарии на мой адреc, в следующий день-два. что я хотел бы увидеть: - чем _конкретно_ помешало появление wildcard (больше спама, больше траффика, сломалась _вот эта_ программа.) Цифры полезны (например, пострадали X пользователей, пришло лишних Y гигабайт спама, ущерб на Z гривен.) - аргументы против (или за) сохранения текущего положения вещей. много не надо; я собираюсь подбить итог в воскресенье 5-го, написать страничку английского текста и послать ее в ICANN и IAB (копию - сюда.) спасибо! =================================================================== uanog mailing list. dns hint wanted

Бредовый вопрос : надо обустроить жизнь так, чтобы на тазик почта ходила только на MX, а на direct не рыпалась, но при том тачка должна нормально резолвиться etc. Суть вопроса вот в чем : у узверей есть isp, на котором прикручены неплохие антивирусы. На лицензию на свои у них бабок нету. От хай бы им почта ходила только через их relay. I just got off the telephone with Ron Guilmette who runs the monkeys.com Unsecured Proxies List DNSBL. I hate to say it, but monkeys.com has been killed. It has been DDOSed to death. Ron says that every aspect of his network is undergoing a massive DDOS attack from thousands of IPs -- apparently many/all spoofed. He has tried to get law enforcement to investigate, but to no avail. He indicated that this is probably the end of his service. This makes two DNSBLs that have been DDOSed to death recently. Which one is next? NJABL? ORDB? The computer security industry really needs to figure out how to get law enforcement to take these attacks seriously. It would only take a few good prosecutions to put an end to these types of attacks. Any thoughts/suggestions? This is really a dark day for those of us fighting spam.
