А что это? на FreeBSD 5.3-STABLE i386 и FreeBSD 4.11-RELEASE i386 в /usr/share/examples/etc/make.conf и /etc/defaults/make.conf такого не нашел. grep MASTER_SITE_INDEX * в /usr/share/mk тоже на какие-либо мысли не навел..
